The New Chapter of our Lives

Ater 28th Oct 2007, I'm no longer, Miss, It is Mrs Ling. I like the "Ling" sound. So many people ask me how I feel about getting marriage. I'm speechless, as I can't find the correct word to describe how happy and excited I am. I just like to be with my dear, he make me smile and laugh naturally. I really feel happy and blissful with him.

Our First Trip together!!!

Our First Neo Print
I love my dear. I'm very lucky to have him.

Run, keep running

History
I grow up in rubber tree plantation. I think my first running experience got to be playing "Police and Thief" before I went to kinder garden, whereby me and my cousins ran around in the huge plantation, wielding a wooden pistol, trying to "shoot" each others. The wooden pistol was saw out from plank wood, shaped like a pistol. We will modify the pistol abit by looping a few strings of rubber bands around a wild flower seed and trigger point. When we release the "hinge", the seed will then be released to shoot another person.

I still can remember vividly that my first competitive "running" experience involved an egg. Yes, egg... but again it's a wooden. That took place during my early primary school time, maybe Primary 1 or 2. What we need to do in this race is to pick up the egg with a spoon from the floor, and run all the way to the end point. We must not drop the egg during the course of run, or else we have to go back to the start line and do it all over again. I didn't win anything, but I start to develope a liking for competive sports event.

Since then, I have participated in every school Sports Day, taking part mainly in Long Jump and sprint events. During Secondary 5, I reached my peak in term of performance, I participated in 5 events that year (which was the max allowable for a student): Tripple Jump, High Jump, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m. I won Silver in 400m, Bronze in Tripple Jump and a Silver in 4x400m. Until today, I still think I should have won the Gold in Tripple Jump. I trained hard for it as compared to 400m (I took this event, for fun..actually, didn't expect to win a Silver medal). I "overperformed" that day in tripple jump event, I leap into the sand on my third step, thus causing a weak third leap on soft sands.... Well, my request to move back the jumping board was not accepted, I was damn piss off!

I went on to Polytechnics in Singapore. I was in school team for Track and Field. Again I took part in Tripple Jump in Inter Varsity Game. Bad luck struck again this time, I sprained my right ankle 1 week before the competition, I only managed a 5th place in the final with a bad ankle to jump on first 2 leaps.

Running Craze
I didn't participate in athletic for a few years until I join my previous company. They have this weekly event called JAWS, which stand for Jog and Walk Session. That's when I start to do longer distance run, starting with a 2.4km run in Gombak stadium in 2002, moving to 10km in 2003, half marathon and eventually full marathon in 2004.

Why I like running...so MUCH??
1. I like the feeling of perspiration...I just like it.
2. I like to compete with my fellow runners...see who can run longer and faster!
3. I like to stay fit. I dun want to pant easily when I walk up the staircase.
4. I like the sense of accomplishment whenever I finished a long race, without stopping.
5. I think and plan during my long runs....I can reorganise my directions in life during the run.
6. It relieve stress.

My Running Gears
I have spent quite alot on running: running attires, running shoes, running gadgets, race entrance fee, nutrition...etc. Bu I think I spent the most on running shoes.

1.
Brand/Model/Year: Reebok/Premier Series, Road Lite/2003
Notable contribution: Completed my first ever 10km with it, Standard Chartered Marathon 2003, and then my first 21.1km in Army Half Marathon, 2004.
**I bought this shoe with discount voucher from Big Walk, 40% discount I think. I continued to buy a total of 4 Reebok shoes in the following years with those Big Walk vouchers.
**Retired after 4 years of service, the sole came off during a normal run on a wet trail.
**I love the shoes, light but good enough for longer runs.

2.
Brand/Model/Year: Reebok/Premier Series, Road Plus/2004
Notable contribution: Completed my first 42.195km full marathon with it, 2004. Climbed Mount Kinabalu, Sabah 2005. Also completed my second marathon with it, KL International Marathon 2005.
**Not my favourite shoes, but I bought this because I want better shock absorbtion for my legs, my running milage has increased substantially in 2004.
**Retired in 2007, sole torn off.
**I will say by far this pair is most durable. I never expect it to survive the tourtures Mount Kinabalu climb, completed numerous runs after that, including another 2 marathons!

3.
Brand/Model/Year: Reebok/Premier Series, Road Competition/2005
Notable contribution: Completed a few sprint events..100m and 400m.
** I didn't wear it often for long runs, it gives very little shock absorbtion.
** Not very comfortable, not wide enough for my feet, well, it was more suitable for track runnings, when you don't have a pair of spike shoe for sprinting events.
** It was the most beautiful sneakers I have so far. Dear like it too. Bright Yellow colours.
** I use to wear it quite often for leisure, more of a fashion item lah.
** Semi retired, sole almost come off, but still looks new, I intend to get it repaired.

4.
Brand/Model/Year: Asics/GT 2100/2006
Notable contribution: Completed my best Marathon with it, 2005
** Most comfortable shoes by far. Asics made good shoes to pamper your feet. I intend to get another different model, as leisure wear...so comfortable.
** I bought a size that might not be the best for my feet, first experience with brands other than Reebok. One of my toe nail came off after i finish my marathon.
** Still in service, I intend to wear it for my 5th marathon this December, and get rid of another toe nail.

5.
Brand/Model/Year: Saucony/Hurricane 7/2006
** This pair belongs to dear actaully. I won a pair of Saucony Shoes in a rope skipping competition few years back, from there I did a research and get to know Saucony is actually a very regconised running shoe brand in US and other Europe countries, but not very well known here in Singapore as compared to Nike/Reebok/Mizuno/Asics.
** Dear was not wearing a pair of shoes made for running....untill she met me..hehehe. She got a bad knee due to some old injuries. I shopped this shoe with her and got it from Queensway Shopping Centre. She pay for it...I was not allowed to pay for any of her shoes, because she believe the old sayings that once you bought a shoe for somebody, that guy will run away from you!

6.(Top Picture)
Brand/Model/Year: Reebok/Premier Series, Road Race/2007
Notable contribution: Not yet...might wear it for my next marathon...a choice between my Asics.

** My confident with Reebok brands dropped to rock bottom, when the whole damn sole came off after wearing it for less than 10 times...still brand new.
** I brought it back to Sitiawan, paid RM10 to get a shoe smith to stitched back the sole, now I think it can last as long as my previous Reebok shoes.

Besides these pictured running shoes, I also own a pair of New Balance. I bought it during the Real Run Road Show. But due to some stupid reasons ( I not stupid...it's the sales person and their special rules), I got a pair that is half size smaller than my usual wear. I gave it to my dad.

Other Essential Gears

1. A complete TIMEX BodyLink Ironman package.
** I bought it from online shopping website, it is at least 50% cheaper than those you can find in Singapore, same model.
**Consists of a 100-lap IronMan watch, a heart rate monitor and a cool GPS recorder.
**Can measure actual distance with the GPS recorder, wear it on your arm. Serve as a Odometer.
** The watch has exciting features...calculate your pace, heart rate alert, speed and heart rate limite alarm to name a few.

2. Fuel Belt - 6 bottle series.
** I was considering a Hydration pack(those backpack which carries water and you can sip it through a tube), but I get this eventually because I can store diluted Power Gel and water at the same time with this.
** Quite expensive if I remember correctly, I got from one of the sports shop in Orchard...
** Very comfortable, it was constructed to counter "bouncing" effect during the runs.
** I think I'm going to get a new one, or maybe I can sew it tight again lah...the material (or rather the internal rubber bands) degraded. I didn't take very good care of it, the sweat degraded the material I think.

JAWS
Jog and Walk Session, organised by my previous company. I still join the group for their run eventhough I have lef the company. It started as a leisure weekly running event, but develope to something that has help those who participated to achieve a running distance far enough to surprise themself. I was the Champion (Person In-charge) for one year, it was a outstanding events and it was highlighted with a Singapore Health GOLD award from Health Promotion Board. We hit the record number of participation in that year's Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon, and also took part in every major road running events.

As an effort to promote running, I have done up a few posters with Photoshop. I have selected 2 of my favourites to show here:

Yeah, Absolut JAWS! Alcohol contens: Sweat 10-21-42%. The number stands for 10km-21km-42km. Did it to encourage people to sign up for 2004 Singapore Marathon.

You will know where I got this from if you are a New Balance fans. Now, Yours Run like mine did?

I have so much fun doing long runs...I will continue to do so, until my leg refuse to do it.

Dear, I will run safely. I know you care, I know.

One, the there's two

Proposal Ring for Eve. I want my woman to have this, diamond symbolised forever.
I did not mentioned anything to her when I bought it, it was a surprise. I want my woman to have a sweet surprised memory.

Our wedding bands, designed by...me lah. we got this from Clarity. Eve's design is embedded with 3 small diamonds, they stands for "I Love You". Mine is plain without diamonds, almost same design as Eve's: Rose gold band sandwiched between white gold bands.

Giberish

So fast, I eat, I sleep, I poo, I run ,I play game and 1 month has gone pass.

An easy month but abit bored.

A lazy month indeed, sleep at 5am and wake up at 12noon.

Started to look for job, no interview yet. Potential employers are scared by my vast experience at such a young age I guess. Or maybe they think I'm just a lier who try to coax a high pay job.

Poor Rocky, I think his paws got infected, tomorrow must send him to vet.

I baked some "Kong Piang" that I learned how to make back in Sitiawan...my first time making it, suprisingly, very tasty neh! Oh, cannot sombong...must improve on the skin lah..must be crispy and not too hard to bite. It's an authentic Hock Chew delicacy, my guesstimate there will be no more than 20 shops that make and sell this in Malaysia. I love this biscuit so much, I can eat at least 5 at one go and still wanting for more! Everytime I go back Sitiawan I much eat it, or else the trip will not counted as a fullfiling one. Those staying in Singapore who try it before will often get Taxi uncle (ba wan che) and bus driver to bring hundreds of it back to Singapore, and eat it for few days...breakfast, lunch, tea break, dinner, supper..haha maybe hor. My Sifu back in Sitiawan can easily sell up to 2000+ pieces on weekend. You know what's the most wonderful things of all? Ya, I know how to make them too now! Yippe!

I need to make a trip back to Sitiawan soon, need to sign some legal documents...another 16 hrs drive on North-South Highway coming. I want to eat this big ABC aka ais kacang again when I go back. Yummyyyymmmyyyy! Hehehe

Dar...sleep tight and control your saliva! I always believed that you were dreaming of food whenever that happened. By the way, I love you, you have the patient I need for the past few months. Thanks!

Oh yeah, I might be going to Egypt soon...very soon.

Rocky - Dogblog

Hello, I'm Rocky....**yawn**... in my favourite posture.

Today is moody, I've slept for very long hours . See, I sleep until my eyes swollen. A sudden urge to pee has waken me up. Damn... I feel wet today! **woof...soof..sniff** Mummy better come back early to stroll me outside so that I can pee or else I'm going to wet my bedroom again... and get scold.

Eve is my mum, but sometimes she change her name to Deer, I'm not sure why but dad always call her deer, but mum doesn't look like a deer at all lor. The funny thing is, dad's name also Deer! I can never understand , just like I can never understand why my mum always has to bath me whenever I smell so good and sexy.

My Dad like to call me funny names..sniff... He called me:
1) Milk Chocolate (because of my fur colour),
2) Pocky
3) Ru Ji (Rocky) Chi Pan (Sauce Marinated Chicken wings... my favourite food!)
4) Rookie

Once a neighbour kid want to be friend with me, but I declined the friendship because he called me Lorry! Why human like to call each other animal name or vehicle name?

My full time job is sleeping, and be very afraid of cockroach. Dad say I boy, cannot be afraid of cockroach, but I inherited this from mum lah, not my fault!

My happiest moment is whenever I get a chance to stroll outside. I get so excited that I will start to pee and poo everywhere. Mum like to collect my poo poo too.
I like swimming also. Once dad brought me to Sembawang Park to swim. It was fun but quite scary also. That time I nearly cried when dad lead me to swim in deep water...I almost out of breath and I thought I was going to drown. At that very moment, I was hoping there will be no cockroach in heaven. Dad still laugh at me until today.

Yawn....I need to get some sleep again...so that I can temporarily forget I need to pee. Mum always thought I'm a lazy dog, she never understand my difficulty...sniff...sniff... aiii.. why parents always like that.

Yes, I'm back !
I nearly sign up for New Balance Real Run which is going to happen on 28th-Oct-2007. But.... I should not plan for anything else on 28th-Oct, because solemnisation of our marriage will take place that day!

Lucky I did not sign up... *cold sweat* ... or else I can only blame it on difference time zone between Sitiawan and Singapore..hehe
It has been a week since I return from my home town. I think I am not getting use to everything in Singapore after a month of mind relaxing stay in Sitiawan.

Back in Sitiawan, I can drive for a little more than 10 minutes to sea side for calming view, I can jog on the big field with lots of friendly joggers, I can go out late a night to have a bowl of yummy "lor-mee" or Hock Chew style dark sauce noodle, I can eat nata-de-coco and watch TV at the living room with my sister's dog "pong pong", I can have tasty and cheap seafood at nearby restaurant....and the best of all...I don't have to wear nice nice to go supermarket and no need to pay for parking!

This is Pong Pong...disguise as a bee...buzzzz

"Mentally not stable". That's Eve's diagnosis of my current state. Besides, I felt that my stomach are bloating again. Not from eating too much, but rather a rare BOT symptom I developed from work: whenever I'm mentally stressed, my stomach will protest! It weaken me, make me feel tired all the time and my energy level will drop to the bottom. I am not kidding. If anyone knows how to cure this, let me know!

I have started to train for the year end marathon... after 8 months of hiatus. It is hard to start building the endurance, stamina and milage from zero again. I have to forget about the speed for now. To make it worst, my legs get tired easily due to the "BOT symptom". Never mind, with a little bit of perseverance, I believe I can do 42.195km eventually. That's an inevitable result..haha *I guess I am mentally strained again at this point*

Time to sleep.... Darling I will try my best to get myself back to normal again. This weekend I bring you to Johor Segamak ya, after collecting our wedding band, yeeah! Looking forward to Saturday.

My proposal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never thought he will think so much to make it so special for me. I'm a very simple gal, I dun need fanciful tactics to propose to me.

In fact the first time, he proposed was in his room where he just said, if our relationship is smooth and nothing goes wrong, will I marry him. To me those are simple and touching words. I think for a guy to say something and do something like that is a very big decision for him, he is a very serious person, he will not take this type of matter for joke. So I'm very happy that accepted his proposal. Since then we set a date to get marry. October 28, 2007.

Soon this date will arrive, so far we had already confirmed the , location, guests and place for the ROM. And it is very sweet of my darling to design out wedding bands. I know he want to make this very special for me. I really appreciate this.

I told him I actually want him to propose formally to me with the wedding bands. My thought will be bringing for dinner and propose to me there. So I waited and waited. No news, people had ask me did he give you a proposal ring. I told them I don't think it is needed at all. To me it is not how big is the diamond should be, it is the heart of the person. And I know he love me very much. So those are not needed at all.

I know he know that as well. But my silly baby planned out a very romantic proposal plan:

Both of us had never see fire fly before, so he had decided to bring me to see it, before they are gone. So we drove all the way there, but that day it is raining so i really worry abt the trip. I even told to cancel it lah. But he said dun worry, jus leave everything to him. So when we reached, good thing it didn't rain. And we bought our tickets and waited for the boat ride to start at 8pm. There we waited and waited, finally it is our turn, so we took the front seats and the rest of the boat are Japanese, never mind we are in our own world.

I'm so surprised to see so many of them, fire flies, they are so beautiful, the way they brink they light up a tree as if it is Christmas. My dar, said something, dear I caught one for you. I was thinking or no, they said cannot catch them, if found we will find $500. I asked really, he said yes, he showed it to me it is dark I can't see at first I thought it is dead already that why no light a the butt. But I see carefully, it is a diamond ring. I'm speechless, before he can asked the question, I said yes already. hahaha I so kuku. He said can he take care of me for the rest of my life and he promise he will take good care of me. And he pop the question, will you marry me. I was so happy and said yes.

At that moment, I feel that I know I will spend my life with him, and I had not make any wrong decision at all to choose him. He is the one. He spent so much on my ring. I feel so bad and I really dun want this but he want me to have a proposal ring and wedding band. I feel that he is very sweet.

He told me that are many plans in his head, one is to bring me to take helicopter and he will be on the ground and propose to me there. The other will be bringing to KL to sit the KL Ferris wheel and propose to me there. But he decided to do this is, which I like it very much and it is something I will remember for life.

Thanks hubby, we will create our new chapter of life together. I Love YOU
