The Egytian version of MRT. They called it Metro here.
It was about 8am and the station is very crowded, Sardine style. They have a separate cabin for woman commuter.
You need to purchase ticket from the counter and you have to tell the counter staff where you want to go. The price list is all in Arabic, so if you don't know Arabic, just point at the last station of the direction you want to go, and drop off along the way lah.
The pricing is dirt cheap anyway, one ticket for long ride is around 1LE (SGD0.25). While there is no station name in English at the ticket counter, every station do have a large board with English name near the platform. Don't ask me why...I still try to find an explaination for many weird things I saw in Egypt, like why this conservative Muslim country has FREE viewing to many call-in sex show view satelite.
So, it's not that tricky afterall. Spent 1LE and you can go anywhere around Cairo and buy a cheap satelite decoder and you have free porno show at home.
You must keep the ticket securely, like put it inside your mouth...because you need the ticket when you get out from the station and the ticket size is just a piece of tiny paper.
In short, the Metro is a little bit like MRT in Singapore but the system and technology is at least 10 years backward....look at the lighting around the station and you know why liao...like taking the cheapo ghost train ride at the theme park.
